According to company history, Teva’s Velcro sandals were created in 1984 by a river rafting guide Mark Thatcher, who wanted to prevent his flip-flops from slipping off his feet and floating downstream. A couple patents, trademarks, and redesigns later, the modern-day Teva sandal was born. The original sport sandal soon came to stand for practicality and adventurousness, and turned out to be the perfect shoes for river activities.
The design is simple: a rubber footbed, straps and a little bit of style. The straps are easily adjusted with strong hook and loop, so you can dial in the fit according to your comfort and preference. The foot bed is cushy right out of the box and in time it molds to the exact imprint of your foot.
In recent years, Tevas have stepped into new territory: everyday street style and even runway fashion. It seems like the industry is realizing that comfort is important enough to be marketable. There is no place where you cannot find a pair of Teva sandals, from rocky trails, roads and water, to a Mark Jacobs runway.

There are more designs to choose from; platform sandals, fun patterns, special collections and even hiking sneakers. Teva Water sandals are very light, comfortable and water ready with rubber outsole panels. Hiking sandals offer good grip, the shock pad in the heel and excellent arch support. The straps are fully padded to help prevent painful blisters and hot spots.
